An incredibly detailed portrait of Helena
Lot 2915
Helena, Augusta, 324-328/30. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 1.61 g, 6 h), Antiochia, July 326. Diademed and draped bust of Helena to right, wearing single pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. FL H/ELENA / AVGVSTA / SMANTB in four lines; above, star-in-crescent; below, pellet. RIC 61. A beautiful with an incredibly detailed portrait. Minor weakness and with some light scratches on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

This is one of the finest known examples for Helena from the second dynastic bronze emission of Antioch. Neither Helena nor Fausta occur in the first emission; the entry for Fausta in RIC is an error and RIC 56 does not exist.
